Getting your documents into FilePilot AI is simple and flexible:
- Drag and drop: Simply drag files from your computer directly into the upload area.
- Click to browse: Click the upload button to select files from your computer.
- Supported formats: PDF, DOC, DOCX, TXT, MD, EPUB, and scanned documents (with OCR on Pro).

Pro tip: Organize documents by project or topic in folders before uploading to make cross-document searches more effective.
2. Asking Questions
FilePilot AI understands natural language queries. Here’s how to ask better questions:
- Be specific: Instead of “What’s this about?”, try “What are the main conclusions about renewable energy adoption?”
- Reference context: “According to the Q3 report, what was our revenue growth?”
- Compare documents: “How do the recommendations in Document A differ from Document B?”
- Request summaries: “Summarize the key points in bullet format.”
- Follow-up questions: FilePilot AI remembers conversation context, so you can ask follow-ups naturally.
Pro tip: Save frequently used questions to your Prompt Library (Pro feature) for one-click access.
3. Understanding Citations
Every answer in FilePilot AI is backed by verifiable sources:
- Citation numbers: Look for superscript numbers [1], [2], etc. in answers.
- TapSource™ (Pro): Click any citation number to instantly view the source passage with highlighting.
- Source panel: All citations appear in the right sidebar with page numbers and document names.
- Verify accuracy: Always check citations when making important decisions.
- Quote directly: Copy citations with proper attribution for reports or presentations.
Pro tip: Use citations to quickly jump to relevant sections of long documents without manual searching.
